The most important skin care steps a bride can take!

So all everyone seems to be talking about at the moment is the royal wedding right? But let’s face it, everyone’s wedding is royal to them and we all want to look our best (even Meghan Markle and Prince Harry)! Rumour has it that the royal wedding is going to reflect their own personal characters, which is fantastic! But what about your character? I’m a strong believer that your wedding day look really should reflect who you are and this starts with great skin!

Many of my brides come to me with a common concern, that is their skin. “What if my skin is dry on my wedding day” or “what if I break out”? “Don’t panic” I always tell them.
As I sit my bride calmly in her bridal consultation, I always give them the best advice for their skin to absolute glow on their big day, (so much so that their guests will be pulling out their shades!)
I’m about to share with you some of my best advice to get that glow and have your skin looking its best on your wedding day!

So good makeup comes from good skin! Too many people come to me and ask to have any lumps and bumps completely vanished! Well, let me tell you something that every makeup artist will tell you! We cannot photoshop your skin! A flawless base starts with you! We are here to enhance your beauty but the real work comes from you!

Ask yourself these questions. Are you drinking enough water? Do you moisturise well? When was the last time you had a facial? Are you adjusting your skincare according to the current weather? We are all so caught up in our busy schedules that too many of us neglect ourselves!

You do not need to splash out on expensive products, unless that’s your thing! It’s all very simple really. You need to remember three main steps with a few added extras.

Firstly do you cleanse, tone and moisturise on a daily basis? This is KEY! You have to remember that results won’t be overnight but consistency will get you very far. Find a simple cleanser, toner and moisturiser that suits your skin type and make these your holy grail! I personally recommend the Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm (great for ageing skin). It’s a little on the pricey side but I think it’s definitely worth it. Next, I tone with the Elemis apricot toner, it smells beautiful! I slather on a daily moisturiser such as Aveeno and repeat this every day, twice a day! Everyone’s favourite products will be different depending on what feels right for your skin. It’s a matter of researching and trial and error.

Up those water bottles! Easier said than done, but try and cut down your alcohol consumption and add in that refreshing water. It really helps to hydrate your skin and adding some lemon and mint will give it a bit of a tasty kick! It’s so good for you and gives your skin the drink it needs.

So ask yourself when you had your last facial? These need to be regular (I like to space them out every 6-8 weeks). But PLEASE do not go and get yourself your first facial a week before your wedding! If you’re anything like me, you could breakout or even have an allergic reaction! Start at least 6 months beforehand and keep them going up until two weeks before the big day!

Lastly, invest in some hydrating night cream. I love Lancome Visionnaire Nuit Beauty Sleep Perfector. This is again more on the high-end scale but if you suffer from dry, patchy skin like me… it’s so worth the money!

So give the above a try my beauties and I can tell you now, you won’t regret it! Get that glow and shine on your wedding day. Who needs a royal wedding at Buckingham Palace, when you yourself will be looking like a royal queen!
